Wadi Bashing – The best of Abu Dhabi

 Wadi Bashing in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is the crowning beauty of the Middle East. If you are unfamiliar with this amazing destination let me tell you that it has the spirit of Chicago, the heat of Africa and the beaches no less than Far East. Above all, it comes in cheap. Despite being the richest city in the world, the seat of UAE’s government and a complete package of entertainment, Accommodations and flights to Abu Dhabi fare available in all price ranges.

Although there is a lot to satisfy the appetite of any young or old, but the one activity that defines Abu Dhabi and that is so very unique to UAE is desert surfing. High Roof, four wheelers, falcons, camels, tents, sheesha, barbecue and traditional Arabic dance girls are the ingredients of a Desert Safari in Abu Dhabi. It is what attracts adventurers to Abu Dhabi and once there you can’t keep yourself from visiting it again and again each year. Now that many airlines are offering direct Flights to UAE, the sand and sun of Abu Dhabi is only few hours’ away.  Some big names among top airlines to Abu Dhabi are British Airways, Etihad Airways, Emirates Airline, Qatar Airways and many more.

Another attraction of Abu Dhabi important to be mentioned here, while talking about desert surfing is ‘Wadi Bashing’. It is a one of its king adventure sports in Abu Dhabi. “Wadi” means the zigzag, rocky and dry riverbed that follows the course of seasonal streams and rivers through rocky valleys naturally carved out by floodwaters. You can find them in abundance in UAE deserts. ‘Bashing’ is the giant, four wheel drive that can give you’re a great time driving rough on the twisted routes in a Wadi.

If you are an adventurer and want to discover the exhilarating challenges desert can offer you, this is the right sport for you. The best time to visit Abu Dhabi for Wadi Bashing is during October to April. Be aware that nights in deserts can get really chilly while staying hydrated should be your priority at all times when exposed to sun.

When people return from a desert safari, each of them have their own tale and their own way of narrating the diverse experience a desert has to offer. As says Paulo Coelho,

Desert has a lot to teach us.

And Wadi Bashing is a fine way to learn it.
