Visiting Australia : A visit at Sydney Harbor, A treat to watch

The Romantic View of the Bridge, the Harbor and the splendid Sydney Opera House within sight, this is the Sydney, the iconic image of Australia. If you are going to Australia and not visiting Sydney, it’s just like spending your life without living it! As a matter of fact, if you want to get the best of Australia, climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge is just the thing. You can fly above it, you can drive through it, you can use the rail or just take a walk but also if you are a hiker or a mountain climber or just someone with guts to experience some thing new and over some any fear there is in the world, well….go climb the Sydney Harbor. You can take appointments; you can buy certificates for that and also take photographs that will contribute to make your trip a memory for a life time.

The Sydney Harbor Bridge is steel through arch bridge between the Sydney central business district (CBD) and the North Shore. The bridge is locally nicknamed "The Coat hanger" because of its arch-based design. To know a bit more about it before setting your foot there, let me tell you that this architectural wonder was designed and built by Dorman Long and Co Ltd, Middles rough Teesside and Cleveland Bridge, Darlington, County Durham. The opening of this ever lasting beauty was done in 1932 and it proudly remained as city’s tallest structure till 1967.

There are also some more interesting facts about this electrifying and wondrous creation, according to Guinness World Records, it is the world’s widest long-span bridge and it is the tallest steel arch bridge, measuring 134 metres (440 ft) from top to water level. And the excellence of Sydney Harbor Bridge does not stop here, as it is also the fifth-longest spanning-arch bridge in the world.

If you are destined to be a hero and taste the true essence of life, live the life to the fullest and challenge your self by climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge. This is seen as one of the greatest sports in Australia (other than Surfing of course)! However, what you will need to proceed apart from a “mighty heart” is,

  • Climb Suit = You should wear appropriate clothing and accessories like hiker gloves, knee / elbow pads, helmets etc
  • Climb Shoes = On the Climb you will need to wear enclosed rubber-soled shoes such as running, sport or hiking shoes, which offer comfort, support and grip.
  • Jackets = to keep you warm and protected during nights, windy conditions or cold weather.
  • Cap = for sunny conditions, don’t forget a cap (or sun glasses as well)
  • Head lamp = In night climbs, a lamp to illuminate your path
  • Latch or Slider = Safety is an ultimate priority for all. You must use either a latch or slider attached to a static line on the Bridge, for the duration of the Climb, ensuring you feel safe, secure and comfortable at all times
  • Guide= some one with a “before hand” experience or a team leader to look after as well as entertain you with some history stories etc.

And the last, however the most important thing not to forget is getting you flight tickets to Sydney. Cheap flights to Sydney are nowadays easily accessible through online technology. You can get your e-tickets with all kinds of airlines whether direct or indirect such as British Airways, Qantas, Emirates, Qatar and Etihad Airways.
