Cape Town Kite Festival 2010

South Africa is a land of endless opportunities. It is home to the world heritage sites, gleaming beaches, exhilarating sports, dense forests and rarest wild life, in short a packet of all that you call a “perfect holiday”. It is the reason why thousands of travelers each year prefer to fly to South Africa in their holidays. Most importantly, its affordable and cheap flights to South Africa are available to accommodate all budget sizes. Although, the Soccer World Cup 2010 had flamed up the flight fares a bit but in months like September, October, and Early year you can still get hold of amazingly cheap flight fares to South Africa with top airliners and low cost airlines alike.

If you are wondering what extraordinary experience you will be getting while flying in low months like October …….you just don’t know South Africa! For there is a lot going on in this Tourism Capital of the world nearly throughout the year, such as the festivals full of vibrancy, excitement and entertainment are “full on” during September, October and on. This October the “not to be missed” festival is the “Cape Town International Kite Festival 2010” organized on October 23-24, 2010 Saturday in Zandvlei, Muizenberg, Western Cape.

The “all day fun event” revolves mainly around Kite Flying but also topped with the traditional African style of celebrations such as mouth watering cuisines on the delicious smelling food stalls, kite making basic trainings – a sure attraction for teens, a craft market – for your shopping crave satisfaction, kiddy rides – to keep your toddlers happy and busy, organic food markets and various prizes, give aways and competitions that can thrill you up.

The most important thing to remember is that, this event is not only a community get-together or fun sport but also supports a very noble cause at the same time, it’s a charity – meaning all the profit this event will be able to make will go to the “Cape Mental Health Institute” that proudly serves the society in dealing with the problem of mental health disorders and also providing essential services for people in the disadvantaged communities.

This festival will bring together families, relatives, friends and travelers to get an opportunity to blend in the rich South African culture, have a chat with the locals, make new friends and master the art of Kite Flying. Apart from all the entertainment, this is also very inspirational event with a very motivating slogan “Uplifting Mind and Body”. The venue of this event is also a famous picnic spot and a must see picturesque site “The Zandvlei” in Muizenberg. An estimated number of expected total attendees exceed 20,000 this year and keeps growing. Also it is a great opportunity for taking the colorful and unique photographs of some state of the art designed gigantic Kites, flying rainbows of colors and a wide range of innovative creations taking off to the clear blue skies in October.

Lastly, the Kite Festival is an inviting competition for the local and international kite enthusiasts to showcase their skills, ingenuity, art and talent at an international event of such magnitude and a noble cause at the back.
