Unions delay Air France strike

PARIS — A union official says flight staff at Air France have voted to postpone a planned strike over government plans to push back their retirement age. Ines Desquines says eight unions agreed at a meeting Saturday to push back the planned five-day strike from Tuesday to Dec. 5.
France‘s lower house of parliament approved a bill overnight that gives flight staff the option of working until the age of 65, starting in 2010. Flight attendants can currently work until the age of 55 and pilots until 60. The measure still has to be approved by the upper house. Desquines said unions would meet with Transport Ministry officials on Monday for further talks on the plans
