The Freetown of 2011

Westernmost region of the African continent is known as Western Africa. According to UN it covers about five million square Kilometers and consists of sixteen countries, Sierra Leone is one of those sixteen countries. Free Town is the largest city and capital of Sierra Leone. As compared to rest of the country Freetown is a nice place to come as a Tourist or traveler. There are a few restaurants to cater the foreigners in the central area run by Lebanese and you can enjoy great food there.

Beaches close to the city are pretty much OK but not much crowd there so that you can relax and have some time of your own, undisturbed by anyone else. There are many guesthouses, hotels and discos in the Aberdeen and lumley areas of town; this area is a bit popular amongst the tourists.

The city of Freetown has faced a very tough time during and after the civil war, it had been occupied by rebels twice, all the infrastructure, economy and population suffered a lot, many of the people living in the city moved to rural area to escape from the trouble.

Freetown is free of all the troubles since 2002 the population is growing fast and the burden on land, Food and water resources is increasing with the increase in population.And hence the forests are being cut regularly to fulfill the need of land both for housing and cultivation.
