Auckland Harbor Bridge is the post, the icon and the identity of the city. The massive steel structure extends to a length of 1, 020 m (3, 348 ft), comprising a main span of around 243.50 m. The height is 43.27 m above the water level in order to facilitate ships easy access to the deepwater wharf at the Chelsea Sugar Refinery to the west. The Bridge is also sometimes referred to as “coat hanger”, due to the structural resemblance of the bridge with Sydney Harbor. However, Auckland Harbor Bridge, in the scenic location of one of the world’s most beautiful cities is absolutely “not to miss” attraction.
