Major Attractions of Guiyang, capital of china’s Guizhou Province

Guiyang, capital of Southwest china’s Guizhou Province has been gradually thrust into tourist limelight as the best city in China to escape summer. It is one of China’s spring cities like Kunming. The climate is often mild and moist, neither extremely hot nor cold. In 2006 Guiyang had the distinction of being chosen as the best summer destination in China. But the result does little justice to the city’s pleasant summer weather conditions and charm.

Guiyang has descent amount of attractions to see if visiting. One of the popular places is Quingyan’s ancient town. The ancient architecture used during this time is quite a sight to see. The majority of the town was built for military reason, so you can view many of the material and buildings used for that. It includes nine temples, eight joss houses, five pavilion, three caves, two ancestral halls, one palace and one yard. Such age old buildings are characterized by majesty vigor which will make tourists acclaim as the peak of perfection.

Hongfeng Lake, a national scenic resort, is the largest man-made lake on the Guizhou plateau. The 170 Isles, the numerous caves, the clear water and the quiet bays are well known. Hongfeng Lake is characterized by the landscapes of mountains and lakes which combine the beauty of mountain and water in Guilin and the charm of Island country in plateau. In Hongfeng Lake, there are folk villages; here tourists can enjoy all sorts of songs and dance from different folks.

Jiaxiu Tower also called the First Scholars Tower is Guiyang’s Landmark. It is a magnificent 3- level pavilion about 20 meters high. Located in water, connected by a Fuyu bridge with two banks, the tower has green tiles, red pillars, engraved windows and white stone parapets which make it superb and striking. A cultural as well as historical relic, Jiaxiu Tower houses the authentic works and paintings of many ancient calligraphers; nowadays many visitors are attracted to this tower to see the exhibitions of calligraphy pieces, woodcrafts and stone tablets inscribed with poems.

Hongfu temple is considered to be the most famous Buddhist site in the province. On entering the gate of the Temple, you will see the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower on both sides. Besides the superb halls of the Temple it is also adorned with pools, galleries and springs which are of high artistic value. A stroll through the Temple compound will enable you to enjoy its peaceful environment while reflecting upon its splendid past.

Huaxai Park is a large natural park. Blending natural hills and rivers, idyllic scenery with ethnic features it has gained the name of “Back garden of Quiyang city”. The water of Huaxi Park is clean and clear. Flowers bloom all year around. Boats are available in the park door visitors to rent. A boat tour offers views of beautiful landscapes along the entire river. In addition to this, the park includes several bridges, pavilions, towers and gardens. Some of them are distinguished in style; some are magnificent; and some have historical significance. All are worth a visit.

Another important scenic spot in the city is the Southern Cave, or the “Underground Park” as the locals called it. Varied stalactite and stalagmite can be found in the cave, where also exists pools and underground lakes. Fancy sights inside the cave will let you enter the myth world.

By dint of its attractions, every summer Guiyang gets visited by millions of people from round the world. There are road ways and air ways to get to the city of multiple attractions.
