Instructions & Precautions to Battle With 0°C

It’s not the first time that heavy snow and showers of rain have ruined the holiday for most of us. Snow on first day brings the joy of ‘approaching holiday season’, second day it’s the memories of all those past Christmas nights that you have had spent with your loved ones, the third day, you start thinking, ‘ummm I have to buy me a new coat’ and the fourth is when you start missing the sun again!

From November 30th, to date weather in UK has reached the point where we are all skeptic ‘whether’ the ‘weather’ will get a little kinder to us and let us have the holiday we anticipate all eleven months and 20 days.  Nowadays, if there is anything creating more chaos in UK than the ‘wikileaks’ or ‘Julian Assange’ is constant disruptions, delays, rescheduling and ‘flight cancellations’. If you have paid a thousand bucks for your flight tickets home, than having these white snowflakes take it away from you…hard isn’t it. But good news, the weather is reported to get a bit better in the coming week…fingers crossed.

Moving on, here is what you could do until you are able to fly away to a hotter holiday:

  1. Get yourself a day or two’s food supply, borrow Grey’s anatomy 4, or Ugly Betty DVDs from your friends, make heaps of pop corns, put on your woolly polly and get on that coach for the weekend.
  2. Be the chef you always wanted to be. Invite your Gal or Gay, make some hot juicy steaks, lit a candle and make the most of cold weather closeness.
  3. When was the last time you hung out with your child hood friends? Look out for your old contacts diary, and start dialing the numbers, sending emails or may be inviting over your child hood friends for a night of ‘play station’ obsession. The second advantage of growing up and adulthood is to ‘play’ unstoppably isn’t it. Wondering about the first, you know better, don’t you?
  4. If indoors isn’t that ‘catchy’ for your sporty type DNA than search out the map of your nearest community centers, grab a racket and go badminton. Let it sweat you and take you back in your High school days. Or alternatively go for the most packed bar or club, the crowded the hotter.
  5. This is the ultimate solution for you, if you think that you are wasting your time reading these weird ideas. Why not check the cheapest flights to Johannesburg, or perhaps if that’s a little out of budget for you than try the nearest destination you have never been to. Book yourself a preholiday adventure, go clubbing, skiing or visit some famous land mark (like Eiffel Tower) and battle off the bad weather with all the weapons you have got.

As far as airports are concerned my friend, Heathrow is up and running but try checking the status of your nearest airport before leaving home. Good Luck .
