Exploring Ghana: A quick look at not to miss attractions in Accra

One of the richest and most contemporary cities on the continent of Africa is Accra; located in the country of Ghana. Accra is also Ghana’s capital and most populated city. The city main airport is Kotoka International Airport, which is hub to all International flights to Accra. With international connections to Europe and North America, Accra flights are an easy to get as many airlines offer direct as well as In-direct flights to Ghana.

Renting a car or SUV is easy to do, as many of the larger Accra hotels offer this service. Drivers are usually very good guides and can explain the different attractions in detail. Taxis are another way to travel about Accra, but you must be aware of the different types there are. Many taxis are not metered, you will negotiate a fee with the driver before you leave but some taxis are metered, and they tend to be a bit more expensive. Another option for travel around Accra is a tro tro, which serve as the city’s public transit system. They have been described as unreliable and not the safest way to travel in Accra.

    A wide array of fine art, textiles and pottery can be enjoyed here. The museum also boasts many pieces from all over Africa including Zulu wooden statues, bronze heads from Nigeria and carvings from the Congo.

  2. Makola Market

    Accra’s main shopping district where you can find produce, tools, shoes and clothes among other things. Makola Market’s traders are almost all women.

  3. Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum

    This is a beautiful memorial park dedicated to the first president of Ghana.

  4. The Beaches

    There are several beaches in Accra, Ghana where you can enjoy the entertainment of acrobats and musicians. Some charge an entrance fee and will have many peddlers with a wide array of things to sell to tourists.
