PHUKET is an island in the south of THAILAND, often dubbed as the pearl of Andaman or the pearl of the South. With 540 square km land area and several sandy beaches it is a diverse and fascinating Island to explore and be entertained at the same time. A rich culture, a marvelous coastline, spectacular natural sights, many outdoor sports and activities, shopping, entertainment, night life, elephant trekking, sea canoe are just a few of its magical attractions which makes it the South’s wealthiest, busiest , most visited and most popular island and province.

There are only few islands in the world that can provide such an abundance of sandy beaches and clear water as PHUKET. The beaches remain the primary draw here. Few famous beaches are

  • RAWAI BEACH, it holds the distinction of being the very first tourist beach on PHUKET. The beach offers both fishing and charter boats to the neighboring islands along with restaurants, bungalows and shops . Just west of RAWAI is Promthep Cape a small peninsula that provides a great sunset viewpoint over the ocean beyond.
  • PATONG BEACH, it is the most famous and the busiest resort area. Patong has the greatest concentration of bars and restaurants. Live music can be found in most pubs and bars. Shopping opportunities are endless and if u like water sports than this is the place worth visiting.
  • AMALA BEACH, it offers the most peaceful atmosphere than any other beach, perfect for those looking for a relaxed and laid back beach. There is a good selection of Thai restaurants, noodles shop and a few western restaurants in the area. On the south it has a beautiful coral reef just a few meters offshore.
  • BANGTAO BEACH, it is a large open bay with one of Phuket largest beaches. Its main resort area called Laguna Phuket is one of Asia’s largest resort complexes. Its north has no beachfront so often people are seen riding horses up and down the beach as afternoon gets cooler. It offers a perfect sunset every evening. Water sports include paragliding, water skiing, jet skiing and banana boat is also available.
  • KATA BEACH, the pleasant bay of KATA beach attracts many with its white sands and clear water. It is divided into Kata yai and kata noi both beaches offer spectacular scenery and a relaxed atmosphere. It offers surfing from May to October and from November to April surfing is replaced by snorkeling, sunbathing and other water sports. Apart from beach Kata beach has lot of lather things to offer like colorful bars, restaurants and good shopping.
  • KARON BEACH, it is a long stretch of powdery beach. The beach is so long that it never feels crowded. Among few attractions are shopping bazaars, bars, Dino park mini golf, Karon temple and a relaxed night scenes.
    Some other famous beach of PHUKET includes Panwa beach, Ao Yon beach, Nai yang beach, Naiham beach, Surin beach, Ao Sane beach, Paradise beach, Laem ka beach, Chalong bay, Emerald beach and Banana rock beach, all these beaches are some of the finest beaches that attracts tourists all year through.

Not only the beaches but other places in Phuket are also worth seeing. Phuket has so much to offer such as ;National parks with hidden lagoons, PHI Island tour by speed boat, SIMILAN Island stopover, PHUKET Fantasea show(dubbed as the ultimate nighttime cultural theme park), Golf at blue Canyon, KHAO SOK jungle safari overnight tour, romantic sunset cruise and dinner by Ayodhaya, PHUKET aquarium, NAMTOK KARATU(a small waterfall with a simple view but unique atmosphere), WAT PHARNANG SANG (a historical temple), The two heroines monument; that it takes a good tactician to take it all in and plan ahead .

Going to this wonder of Nature, is not as expensive as it used to be. The reason is to boost tourism in the area as recent economic downfall and recession had a lasting impact on the Tourism Industry that persuaded all airline and hotels to somehow offer considerable and reasonable fares to keep the business going. Even British Airways is selling cheap flights to Phuket and most fares are on “SALE”.
