Kent Ridge Park Singapore

Kent Ridge Park, a 47-hectare park in the western part of the Island, is a living museum of Singapore’s rich historical and natural heritage. The design of the park takes full advantage of the natural vegetation and topography of the site. Various look-out points offer visitors magnificent views of the off-shore island like Pulau Duran Darat, Pulao Bukam and some southern offshore islands. Nature lovers will certainly enjoy the nature trail; invigorate yourself for a 280 meters long canopy walk. This walk gives you a very beautiful view of the surrounding areas, especially Normanton Park, Pasir Panjang etc. You will see sunbirds, doves, squirrels and lizards. The canopy walk leads to the Bukit Chandu museum. At the half-way point, there is a shelter for visitors to take a short break. There is also a trail MTB trail for mountain biking. It has a nice mix of singletrack with some very surprising climbs.

Due to its undisturbed habitat and abundant plant life, Kent Ridge Park has long been a bird sanctuary for residents and migratory birds during the winter season. As such it is one of the four popular bird watching sites on the mainland Singapore.

During World War II, a hill in the park was the site of one of the last and fiercest battles fought by the Malay Regiment against the invading Japanese army, and thus was gazette by the National Heritage Board as one of the eleven World War II sites in Singapore in 1995. As part of Army’s adoption of the park as The Army Green Park, two decommissioned M114 Artillery guns and an AMX-13 Light Tank are displayed in the park.

If you are a fitness enthusiast, Kent Ridge Park is the place to be. It offers the most number of fitness stations -20 to be exact. The fitness equipments will pose a challenge to fitness enthusiasts.
