Get cheap flights to Zimbabwe and experience Victoria Falls

“Thundering smoke” – that’s what the local people of Zimbabwe call Victoria Falls. At the end of the rainy season, the immense amount of water thundering over the edge of the Falls literally forms an enormous cloud of thin spraying mist. You’re absolutely drenched long before you reach the Falls themselves. The sound of thundering water falling over the 2 km wide Falls is overwhelming and can be heard from up to 25 miles away at times.

The walk to and from the Falls is an amazing experience in itself. It is surrounded by jungle and you can spot wild game such as waterbuck through the leaves. If you find a quiet spot to sit and view the Falls and absorb the beautiful surroundings, you feel totally at one with Nature – both dwarfed and overwhelmed and at the same time powerfully inspired – it’s awonderful feeling!

The walk along the Zambezi above the Falls is excellent and is packed with wildlife. You may see warthog, crocodile, hippo, and even elephant, buffalo and lion.Victoria Falls offers a range of budget and luxury accommodation options right from small luxury camps to hotels, resort complexes, bed and breakfast etc nearly all of the accommodations are located in very close proximity to the Victoria falls. These accommodation options are quite centralized. The Local transfer options from these accommodations make the Victoria falls easily accessible.

British Airways and South African Airways all offer very cheap flights to Victoria Falls Airport (VFA). Where as, Air Zimbabwe offers immensely cheap flights to Harare, from where you may get direct flights of Air Zimbabwe between Victoria Falls Airport and other destinations within Zimbabwe such as Bulawayo. The roads within Zimbabwe are relatively good for overland journeys and it’s also a good way of making the most of your trip to Zimbabwe.

However, the most direct way to Victoria Falls overland is from Bulawayo. It’s possible to drive in through Livingstone,Zambia as well. You may get a ‘temporary import permit’ for the car at the Zambian boarder posts and drive all the way fromLivingstone to Victoria Falls for a much adventurous experience. There is also a direct train route running between Victoria Falls and Bulawayo every night, the best thing about that is the First Class fare is negligible, and when you arrive at Victoria Falls in the morning at sunrise…..it just seems like a dream coming true. It is the best way to make your journey memorable and you will encounter very different familiarity while seeing the true Zimbabwe culture and way of life. In short, once you set foot in Zimbabwe, there are a million ways and means to make your journey a memory for a life time.
