A visit at The Jacaranda City – Pretoria South Africa

With the Holy month of Easter getting closer and closer each day, it is the time of the year when every plant and every tree blooms, chatters, claps and dances with the glory of nature in full swing. During spring season, the city of Pretoria beacons an ultimate paradise in the world to see and get amazed by each and every view before your eyes. It is a perfect destination, even named at the beauty of the purple ferny trees enveloping the heart of the city in a dreamlike way that look surreal and illusionary that an ordinary holiday is transformed into a fairy tale.

Pretoria is more commonly called “The Jacaranda City” meaning “Plant with ferny leaves” that is by dint of a large growth of the widely cultivated tree or bush with ferny leaves and purple flowers that produces jacaranda. The motto of the city makes is an even more splendid and glorious city to visit and get inspired by; “May Pretoria Be Pre-eminent in Excellence”. Un-doubtfully the motto o f the city is clearly visibly in the wondrous landscapes and elegant streets.

Sparkling with all the purple blossom-bedecked trees, which line its thoroughfares, Pretoria is a lovely, quiet city, located in the northern part of Gauteng Province, South Africa. It is one of the country’s three capital cities, serving as the executive (administrative) and de facto national capital; the others are Cape Town (the legislative capital), and Bloemfontein (the judicial capital). Despite the magical natural beauty of the city, Pretoria is also a cosmopolitan attraction with a population that exceeds a million people, the bulk of whom are government officials. The city centre is laid out in typical city fashion on a grid with wide roads, making getting around fairly simple.

Getting in, however is mainly served by the international gateway the “Wonderboom Airport (PRY)” where many crown of the crop carriers fly daily back and forth from any London Airport or other airports round the world. Cheap flights to Pretoria are largely operated by British Airways, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways. The most convenient and cheapest way to get in Pretoria is to find cheap flights to Pretoria via Durban or Cape Town as every now and than there are some promotional activates going on with airlines like South African Airways for cheap flights to South Africa Cape town, Durban or Pretoria (indirect). For more details on cheap tickets and ongoing special offers see Cheap flights to South Africa.

Pretoria had a long, involved and fascinating history. Here you will find significant old buildings and fascinating museums. The Transvaal Museum has natural history displays and is the home of Mrs Ples, the australopithecine fossil found at Sterkfontein in the Cradle of Humankind. Also worth visiting are the Cultural History Museum and Smuts Museum in Irene, outside Pretoria.

Pretoria, is an amazing destination specially during Spring and wintersm lying as it does in a warm, sheltered valley surrounded by the hills of the Magaliesberg range that ensure that temperatures here are invariably a few degrees warmer than Johannesburg. In the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup the city is further ornamented and illuminated as it will also be host to some of the final matches in July.
