A visit at Dream Park Queensland, Australia

If you are going to Brisbane, the capital of Queensland Australia and not going to “The Dream Park”, your trip is not accomplished. Or you can say a trip to Queensland without seeing the Dream work is not a trip at all. It was in the exciting year of 1974; John Longhurst put his dream of building a theme park into practice and purchased 85 hectares of land beside the Pacific Motorway in Coomera. The theme park was officially opened on November 15, 1981 by the Premier of Queensland of the time, Sir John Bjelke-Petersen. Only, four months later, Dream world’s first roller coaster, the “Thunderbolt” was opened and remained the major attraction of the park for the next 15 years. Even today, it serves as a sight of interest to many.

Dream world is an amazing, adventurous and large theme park situated on the Gold Coast in Queensland. It is currently Australia’s largest theme park. It is well known for being the location of the Australian “Big Brother House”. For those who are not a nig fan of reality shows let me tell you that Big Brother is the Australian versions of the international Big Brother reality television series. In addition to Big Brother, Friday Night Games was also filmed at Dream world. It was a popular show where two teams, each composed of three celebrities and one chosen contestant, competed and tested their skills in a series of games and challenges. However, The Big Brother House has now been one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dream world.

If you thing that it is only a place for those who are not scared of rides or just a child’s play, than think again because Dream World also features several restaurants and shopping outlets, where you can find almost every thing and a lot of cheap toys and stuff that you can take back home. On my trip I bought a dozen “Coffee Mugs” painted with some Dream World scenes and carnival photos. They proved to be an interesting gift for office colleagues and kids alike!

But, if your children are with you than they can have a real great time and some memorable photos at kids area Nick Central or Wiggles World  for toddlers and infants; as well as many themed areas such as Tiger Island, The Australian Wildlife Experience and Gold Rush Country. In December 2006, a new water park, “White Water World”, operated by the same company as Dream world, opened next door to the park. Don’t miss to sneak a peek of the Water World too.

And, also Scream world is worth a visit. It is an ultimate scary movie kind of experience that can fill your mind and soul with chills and thrills found no where else. Other attractions of the park include, Main Street with mainly shopping outlets scattered along the path, The Croc Pond, a pond with miniature crocodile boats drivable by park guests and Dream world Railway which features a steam locomotive with several passenger trailers running on a loop around the park stopping at four stations. It gives a conclusive ending to the trip if you take Railway and can also get the full view of all major attractions.
