A quick look at places to visit in Brazil

Foot ball, carnival and Amazon forest are the identity of rich and gaudy Brazil. It is the King Kong of South America in size and diversity. Also, the world’s fifth largest country not only in size but population as well. So while coming to Brazil be prepared for uncountable attractions to see, amazing places to go, colorful weather, exhilarating activities, vibrant festivals, lively nights, shinning beaches, bags full of shopping, tongue tickling food and state of the art architecture. The only obstacle you may see here is the language as Brazilians speak sweet and charming “Portuguese”. It is the largest spoken language in the country, making Brazil the only “Lusophone” (Portuguese speaking) country in the region.

Brazilian beaches are famed for the ever shining sun and liveliness; it is the magnetism of the blues that draws millions of tourists to the land of Brazil each year. Another factor can be that accommodation and cheap flights to Brazil are most readily available from European countries including the UK.

Brazil has a 7,491 kilometers wide spread costal line with the Atlantic Ocean on the east. In the North it is bordered by Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and the French overseas department of French Guiana. The neighbors of Brazil are many, in the Northwest, is located Colombia, while Bolivia and Peru on the west. In the southwest of Brazil is Argentina and Paraguay and Uruguay in the South. Other than a wide and extensive neighborhood that includes whole of South America but Ecuador and Chile, there are also numerous archipelagos that form part of Brazilian territory i.e., Rocas Atoll, Fernando de Noronha, Saint Peter, Paul Rocks, Trindade and Martim Vaz. It is the amazing location, the ideal climate and the gigantic size that Brazil is blessed with all the four weathers spring, summer, fall and winter. If you go near the equator, the weather is generally wet and dry however the weather keeps on becoming more pleasant while on the way from Sao Paulo down to the Southern region of the country.

It needs more than one holiday to cover all the attractions and especially the wild side of Brazil in the Amazon forests along the Amazon River. However, for the twice yearly holiday makers, visiting Brazil mainly revolves around going to Brasilia, Rio, Salvador and Sao Paulo – the four most popular cities of Brazil.

The capital city of Brazil is Brasilia, however from a tourist’s point of view it’s primarily about the architectural wonders that draw your attention such as the basket-shaped cathedral and the beautiful Arches Palace. The considerably more Tourist oriented city is Rio de Janeiro, commonly called “Rio” only. Finding cheap air fares to Rio de Janeiro is also easier than Brasilia, as flights to Rio are more frequent from the west.

Rio is the crowning beach destination in Brazil. It’s an immensely popular and vibrant city that welcomes visitors with open arms. The big Christ the Redeemer statue atop Corcovado Hill, is the icon of Rio.  The world famous Carnival of Rio – presents a rainbow of Brazilians, African and European styles of celebration.

Another must go-go, is the city of “Salvador”. This former capital of Brazil is richly colorful, with unique cultures and blend of indigenous, African and European histories buried here. The modern day Salvador, is however, all about partying and partying hard.

Last but not the least, the city of Sao Paulo, is not to be forgotten when on a trip to Brazil. Cheap flights to Sao Paulo are commonly available as the city has one of the biggest airport in the country. It is indeed the richest, the largest, happening and the most cosmopolitan 21st century city. Sao Paulo is also mix culture city. Here the influences of Arab, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Jamaican, Greek and German settlers are visible on food, culture, architecture and daily life style. Brazil is one of the very few destinations in the world, where such a cross cultural experience is available and exists in perfect harmony with each other.

Internationally, Brazil carries a reputation for being a cheap holiday destination, primarily catering to bachelors and student travelers from the west. The largest international airport in Brazil is São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport. One of the direct and cheap airlines to Brazil, Air TAM is based in Sao Paulo. Air TAM is a leading Brazilian airline that connects it with capital cities all around in Europe.

Another popular airline in Brazil is TAP Portugal, which is the biggest foreign airline operating in the country offering connecting flights to Europe and Africa. The domestic flights in Brazil are largely provided by TAP airline connecting Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Salvador and Brasilia.

Also, flights to Seoul with Korean Airways, flights to Tokyo with JAL airline and flights to Dubai with Emirates operate from here. Hence, it’s a good chance for making a multicentre holiday. Cheap Flights to the capital cities in South America and major cities in North America also operate form Sao Paulo International Airport. However, the cheapest airfares to Brazil are more commonly available between February to May. Also from August to November flights and accommodations are priced more reasonably. If flying from London Heathrow or else in UK, the national carrier British Airways also offers cheap flights to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil along with some promotional deals and low flight fares occasionally offered by Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airline.

The top of the list attractions in Brazil, start from attending a national level soccer match. Brazil is a soccer lover’s heaven. Also, the annual Carnival is celebrated in Brazil where the age, size, color, costume or weight is not a hindrance – all can dance free and as they like. The urban liveliness of São Paulo or the cultural hospitality offered by Pernambuco and Bahia, the un-spoilt wilderness of the Amazon rainforest or the musical wonders of Iguaçu Falls, there are unlimited attractions to keep you busy for months.

Other notable attractions in Brazil are the Parque Nacional Chapada dos Veadeiros, Iguaçu Falls, Itatiaia National Park and Pantanal.
