Rise in Passenger Traffic at UK Airports

LONDON (AP) – Airport operator BAA says passenger traffic at Britain’s major airports rose 0.8 percent in November compared to a year earlier, the first such increase since March 2008. Over the last 12 months, passenger traffic fell 1.8 percent compared to the previous year.

Heathrow airport, Europe‘s busiest, recorded a 1.1 percent increase. London Gatwick saw a 4.5 percent rise in its last month under BAA ownership, and Edinburgh posted a 1.3 percent increase. Other BAA airports reported continuing declines: London Stansted was down 2.7 percent, Glasgow fell 4.7 percent, Aberdeen was down 4.2 percent and Southampton was down 2.5 percent.
