Japan’s flag ship carrier, Japan Airlines also known as ‘JAL’ and USA national carrier American Airline or AA have reached a code share agreement on flights between New York and Sao Paulo. These flights to New York and Sao Paulo will be operated by American Airlines, a one world alliance partner. The airlines have also announced that flight reservation and ticketing purchase will be starting from this month, October 28 2010 once the Government Approval is given.
The new bilateral code share agreement will be benefiting Japan Airline at large and will retain Sao Paulo in the airlines network. Japan Airlines earlier suspended flights to Sao Paulo that connected this popular Brazilian city, and business hub with Japan’s capital city Tokyo through flights via New York City, America.
The two airlines are seen side by side these days and have also applied for “antitrust immunity” with the U.S. and Japanese authorities. This is aimed to carry out a proposed joint business for flights between North America and Asia, as tourism between the two countries is constantly gaining momentum. Also, October is a great time in a way that till December ‘Christmas flights’ and holidays in the far east and Asia travelers will have more wider options and convenience to select flights to New York, Japan and Sao Paulo.
Japan and American Airlines have recently gained a tentative approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the green light from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. The two airlines code-share extensively on flights within the United States and Canada as well. With this new addition of cooperation on the New York- Sao Paulo route, Japan Airline will continue to provide support to their customers traveling to and from the largest city and business hub of Brazil, South America.
