VIRGIN NIGERIA OUT WITH BANJUL IN JUNE

Lagos Nigeria (Virgin Nigeria Press release): Virgin Nigeria Airways, the nation’s flag carrier, has concluded plans to launch direct flight services between Lagos, Nigeria and Banjul, The Gambia. Beginning in June, Virgin Nigeria will deploy its aircraft on a twice weekly flight operation to the West African nation. Expected to increase commercial activities in the sub region, the launch will also see Virgin Nigeria deploying its experienced tour desk to package exotic offers to the passengers on the route.

Gambia government officials are currently rooting for the entry of Virgin Nigeria to Banjul to help stimulate the country’s tourism and business potentials through attractive rates for tour offers. Commenting on the new route, Susan Rotimi, Marketing Communications Manager said, “This is a new and exciting tourism and business destination for our teeming passengers. “Virgin Nigeria will as always offer its world class superior services on this and other routes as well as provide excellent connection and flexible timing to passengers in the Region.”

Funmi Aiyepekun, Head of Marketing, added that the airline will utilize its Aircraft with excellent in-flight entertainment as well as make available its luxury International Business Class lounge to passengers on the class. The Banjul service is also expected to connect to Dakar, Senegal for a return trip, unlike the previous connection through Accra. The airline will from May 21st offer direct flights on the Lagos-Dakar Route.

Additional flight services have also been added on the Lagos-Douala-Lagos route while more flights are also added on the Lagos-Libreville route through Douala. It will be recalled that Virgin Nigeria recently re-focused its business model to enhance its dominance on the domestic and regional routes in its extensive route network. The launch of the Banjul route comes just as the company has announced recent internal appointments to drive this new focus.
