Pakistan good destination for aviation business: British Airways

British Airways

Pakistan is a good destination for aviation business with great opportunities in cargo services, said Chris Phipps, British Airways Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan. Talking to the newsmen, here, he appreciated the cooperation of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authorities and other agencies extending to his organization in the operation of British airways services from Pakistan.

He told the newsmen that British Airways and British Aviation Authority (BAA) have agreed to operate Pakistani bound British Airways flights from Terminal 5 w.e.f October 22 to facilitate the passengers. He said that flights from Islamabad International Airport will move on October, 22. Mr.Phipps said that British Airways are currently operating 75% of its operation out of Terminal 5 which has been performing well over the past few months.

Earlier this month (July 4), we celebrated 100 days since the opening of Terminal 5. Almost five million passengers have travelled through the terminal and we have handled more than 38,000 flights, he remarked. He said that the final long haul moves are taking place after the traditionally busy summer period.

The remaining fights that move on October 22, 2008 will make the airlines transition to Terminal 5 complete, he remarked. To a question, he said that due to hike in fuel prices in the international level the cost of the airlines has increased from 20 percent to 30 percent.

He said that number of passengers from Pakistan have increased due to good quality service of his organization. He said that his organization is operating four cabin long haul aircraft with facilities of international standards to the passengers.

He further said that British Airways currently has approximately 60 long haul departures and 60 long haul arrivals in Terminal 4. It has also operating 15 long haul departures and 15 long haul arrivals from Terminal 5 since March 27.
