Continental Airlines has been named World’s Most Admired Airline in Fortune magazine’s annual list. The publication tracks the world’s most admired companies across different industries every year, and Continental has appeared top of the list in the airline category for six consecutive years.
Continental was awarded 7.71 points for key areas including global competitiveness, people management, social responsibility and innovation. Continental beat out competitor airlines including Air France-KLM (7.15 points), Southwest Airlines (6.89 points) and Singapore Airlines (6.85 points).
Larry Kellner, chairman and chief executive at the carrier, said:
"Continental’s more than 42,000 co-workers are the reason for our success, and I’m proud to see their hard work recognized again this year. "They have shown once again that they are the best team in the airline industry."
