Hong Kong’s premier airline Cathay Pacific has stated on its website that its Boeing 747-400 has undergone an emergency landing due to problems with cabin-pressurization system. The airline has stated on its website that Cathay Pacific flights to Hong Kong landed in Kazakhstan after flight pilot reported a cabin pressurization fault. During the course of landing, Oxygen masks were deployed on the Amsterdam-Hong Kong flight in line with safety procedures before the diversion was carried out. The Cathay Pacific flight number CX270 was carrying 326 passengers, all of whom are unharmed.
The airline had to seek permission from Kazakhstan Government before landing under special circumstances. However the passengers on the Cathay Pacific flight were not permitted to leave the aircraft for about four hours after landing at Kazakhstan’s Karaganda airport because of local immigration requirements.
The airline has also prepared a ‘replacement plan’ according to which all the 326 passengers and crew will be collected at the earliest possibility. According to a statement on Cathay Pacific’s website, the stranded passengers and crew are expected to arrive in Hong Kong about 6:20 a.m. tomorrow.
The carrier has informed Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department about the incident and begun an investigation. Courtesy: Bloomberg.
