Cathay faces price-fixing claims

Cathay Pacific is the latest carrier to be targeted by legal action as a result of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission’s ongoing investigation into air cargo price-fixing. The ACCC alleged yesterday that between 2000 and 2006, Cathay entered into more than 70 fuel surcharge price-fixing arrangements or understandings with other international air cargo carriers. The ACCC is seeking declarations, injunctive relief, pecuniary penalties and costs.
