British Airways is extending its route network from London City Airport with the launch of its first route to Scandinavia. The airline is starting a new double-daily weekday flights to Copenhagen in Denmark from London Docklands airport, providing a direct air link between the two capital cities.
There will also be one flight a day from London City on Sundays and one flight from Copenhagen on Saturdays. The new flights will start on September 12, and will be operated by British Airways’ wholly owned subsidiary BA CityFlyer with its new fleet of Embraer 190 regional jets. BA CityFlyer has four Embraer 190s in service (in addition to six Embraer 170s) and has a fifth Embraer 190 due for delivery late in 2010.
“This has been a year of firsts for us at London City Airport, with new leisure focused flights to the Balearic Islands launched earlier in the year and now our first ever venture into Scandinavia,” says Luke Hayhoe, BA CityFlyer’s commercial manager. “Once again we are responding to demand from our customers for both business and leisure travel to Denmark and we are delighted to be launching another exciting new route using our new aircraft.”
Very useful. It’s about time they flew to a Scandinavian destination, so we don’t have to fly via Ryanair!
