British Airways reduces economy cabin fuel surcharges

British Airways – the UK’s flagship carrier which operates 28 weekly flights from the UAE to London Heathrow – has reduced its fuel surcharge for World Traveller (economy) and World Traveller Plus (premium economy) customers.

Despite an annual fuel bill which is expected to rise 50% to Dhs17.825bn (£3.1bn) this year – a daily equivalent of £8m (Dhs46m).

‘In spite of the fact that the overall cost of fuel for British Airways has not reduced, we have implemented the lower surcharge because the price of fuel has dropped in recent weeks and our objective is to remain competitive in the marketplace,’

said Paul Starrs, Commercial Manager, Middle East. ‘The price of fuel remains volatile, but we keep our surcharges under continuous review and adjust them as and when appropriate,’ added Starrs.

A full list of all fares and destinations are available online at ba.com – where the lowest fares for British Airways flights to London are guaranteed – and customers can book, pay and check-in online for their flights.
