British Airways’ economy upgrade offer goes regional

British Airways – the UK’s flagship carrier which operates 33 weekly flights from the UAE to London Heathrow – has extended its ‘upgrade before you fly’ offer, previously only available on the popular Dubai-London link, across the Middle East.

The deal, which allows the carrier’s World Traveller (economy class) customers to upgrade to World Traveller Plus (premium economy) from only AED820, is obtainable either at the time of booking – through the ‘Manage My Booking’ facility on ba.com – or, subject to availability, when checking-in online.

‘This is a great way for customers to add increased comfort to their annual holiday travel and for business travellers to get great value for money at a time when budgets are tight,’

said Paolo De Renzis, British Airways’ Commercial Manager, Middle East.

‘The offer has been a hit with our Dubai travellers purchasing an upgrade just before travel, so we want to offer our regional customers the chance to experience the same level of luxury and service from the point of purchase.’

The promotion has been such a huge success on the Dubai-London link that the emirate is ranked in British Airways’ top three global upgrade routes, alongside New York (JFK) and Vancouver.

And now the airline’s regional customers in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar, can pay the minimal additional charge and enjoy the World Traveller Plus experience. World Traveller Plus boasts wider seats with legroom of 38-inches compared to the 31-inches in World Traveller and a variety of menu options, designed to suit the time of day and length of flight, as well as a full bar service.
