British Airways is reducing its free hand luggage allowance from two to one bag on economy transatlantic flights. The airline is taking the action as part of a host of measures designed to reduce costs during the current economic downturn.
Passengers travelling in to and from the Americas will only be able to take on bag weighing up to 23kgs from October 7 onwards. Flights between London and Brazil will be exempted from the changes, and passengers through-checked journeys between India and the USA, Canada and Bermuda will retain a two-bag free allowance of up to 23kgs per bag. Gold and Silver Executive Club cardholders will still be entitled to two pieces of luggage.
