Arik Air has resumed flights to Maiduguri

Arik Air has resumed services between Abuja and Maiduguri, capital of Borno State. The airline suspended its services to Maiduguri at the end of July following the outbreak of militant activity across the region. The resumption of flights means that Arik Air connects Maiduguri and the Federal Capital six days per week. The authorities in Maiduguri have imposed a local curfew however, from 9pm to 6am and this requires the airline to re_adjust the timings of its previous flight schedule until further notice.

The airline’s General Manager Sales and Marketing, Mr. Suraj Sundaram said earlier today: “The safety of our guests and employees is always paramount. During the past two weeks, our security team has been monitoring the security situation closely and our local management has been liaising continuously with authorities.  At this time, there is consensus that it is safe to resume our services, while adhering to the curfew limitations.”

Arik Air flights depart Abuja in the evening at 17.45, arriving Maiduguri at 19.05. Flights from Maiduguri depart in the morning at 0800, arriving Abuja at 0915. Arik Air is Nigeria’s leading commercial airline. It operates a fleet of 28 state_of_the art regional, medium haul and long haul aircraft. The airline currently serves 21 airports across Nigeria, as well as Accra (Ghana), Cotonou (Benin), Niamey and Agadez (Niger), Freetown (Sierra Leone), Banjul (Gambia), Dakar (Senegal), London Heathrow (UK) and Johannesburg (South Africa). The airline currently operates 120 daily flights from its hubs in Lagos and Abuja.
