American Airline and Kingfisher Code Share, Frequent Flyer Relationship Starts From 2011

America’s top carrier, American Airlines has undergone an agreement with India’s leading carrier Kingfisher under which the airlines will be operating code-share Flights and Frequent Flyer Relationship from 2011.

In the announcement made yesterday on November 23rd, the Airlines announced that they will enter into a comprehensive code share and frequent flyer relationship starting in 2011, subject to regulatory approvals. The code share relationship will allow American to place its AA* code on Kingfisher Airlines extensive domestic network beyond Delhi, in its initial phase. While, American Airline will also code share on Kingfisher Airlines flights from London Heathrow to Delhi and Mumbai in the subsequent phases.

American Airline currently operates daily nonstop Flights from Chicago O’Hare to Delhi. After the regulatory approvals, once the agreement is in effect, Kingfisher Airlines will place its IT* code on flights to Delhi from Chicago as well as on selected American flights between the United States and London Heathrow.

Also, the agreement will enable members of American’s and Kingfisher Airlines King Club frequent flyer programs to earn miles on the code share flights. At this launch, Virasb Vahidi, American’s Chief Commercial Officer stated:

We are very pleased to announce our code share partnership with Kingfisher, an airline that offers our customers the choice of flying to more cities throughout India and a more convenient travel experience," He further said "We look forward to strengthening further our partnership as Kingfisher completes the process of joining the oneworld alliance.

Adding to that, Manoj Chacko, Executive Vice President – Commercial, Kingfisher Airlines Limited stated:

I am delighted that Kingfisher Airlines has entered into a code share and frequent flyer relationship with American Airlines. The code share on American’s flight to Chicago will mark the first time ever that Kingfisher Airlines will place its code on any flight operating into the United States. This, coupled with the frequent flyer relationship, will mean that Kingfisher Airlines guests will be able to benefit from seamless travel on the routes covered by the codeshare.

The airlines also share another relationship that is ‘OneWorld membership’ as American Airline is the founding member of the world’s leading quality airline alliance and Kingfisher is one of the proud member-elect of oneworld.
