Due to the new National Plan for Leisure, and depreciation in the value of the Euro, Europe has become an increasingly attractive destination for Chinese tourists. Air China has responded to this increase in demand by increasing its number of flights to Europe, and also enhancing its international routes to the Asia Pacific region, and the rest of the world.
New European Routes
On March 29th, Air China made a number of improvements to its European routes. Air China launched a direct flight from Beijing to Moscow, which departs from Beijing every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Air China also resumed its Beijing to Madrid flight which departs every Thursday and Sunday, and flies on to Sao Paulo from Madrid. Furthermore, Air China has increased the number of flights between Beijing and Paris from six to ten every week.
Enhanced Asia Pacific Routes
On March 29th, Air China added an extra flight on the Beijing to Jakarta, via Xiamen, route. The flights depart on Tuesday, Friday and now Sunday. Air China has also cut the flight time of its CA971/2 Beijing to Kuala Lumpur flight to 6 hours and 20 minutes.
Air China also increased its number of flights from Chengdu, another important hub for the airline. On March 29th, two additional flights were added to the Chengdu to Kathmandu route, which now depart on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The flight time was also cut to 4 hours and 5 minutes. On March 30th, the route for the Air China CA945/6 flight was changed from Beijing-Urumqi-Karachi to Beijing-Chengdu-Karachi, with departures on Monday and Thursday.
Enhancing Domestic Routes to Meet Demand
Since the beginning of March, Air China has adjusted its domestic flights in order to meet increasing domestic tour demands. Air China is planning to add one flight everyday to the following 8 routes, Beijing to Hefei, Guilin, Lanzhou, Ningbo, Nanjing, Qingdao, Xiamen and Yantai. Meanwhile, Air China continues to enhance Beijing’s status as an international hub by implementing its new through check-in service. Air China also provides advance transfer plans to passengers, making it possible for them to change flights in the shortest amount of time. Thirty cities are involved in this plan and passengers are now able to change flights in two hours or less at Beijing Capital Airport.
