African network expansion by Egypt air

Egypt air expands its network in Africa by flying to a couple of new destinations; Abuja, Nigeria, and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania next month. The first flight to Abuja will be on the 1st of June to start schedules 2 weekly flights, while the four weekly services to Dar Es Salaam will start on the 2nd of the same month.

The new destinations will be served by the new generation of Boeing 800-737 aircrafts which accommodate for 24 business class seats. The seat pitch was increased to hit 48′ to exceed the international norm on medium range aircrafts. The aircraft is equipped with the stat-of-art entertainment system with Video On Demand (VOD) features and laptop power outlet. This is in addition to 120 economy class seats with a very comfortable seat bitch.

To mark the opening of the new routes, Captain Sharif Galal, Chairman and CEO of Egypt air Airlines stated that, ‘The operation of the new routes comes in the framework of the expansion of Egyptair’s operation in Africa, normally because Egyptair represents the north gateway to the continent.’ He adds ‘The flights will serve the transit customer from Europe , the Middle East, Far East and will contribute to the increase the number of transfer customers at Cairo international airport, bearing in mind that the travel market to Africa is a promising market, one of the most developing regions in the world, according to IATA statistics.’

Egypt air executed intensive advertising campaigns in these new markets, which led to an increase in demand on these routes. It is noteworthy that Egyptair is operating non-stop flights to another 14 African cities: Tripoli, Benghazi, Tunis, Algiers, Casablanca, Khartoum, Addis Ababa, Asmara, Nairobi, Kano, Lagos, Accra, Entebbe and Johannesburg.

  1. Thankyou so much for the info mentioned above. it gave a fair insight about the travel related options available to the African continent. Also please comment if it is safe to travel to Nigeria for work. After some news on violence in Africa, safety has become my area of concern.
