AA increases cargo capacity from Ireland to the US

American Airlines has increased its cargo capacity and frequency from Ireland to seven flights a week, following the reinstatement of daily services from Dublin to Chicago. The carrier now has the same capacity as in the corresponding period of 2008, up from four flights per week during the winter.

Ian McCool, managing director of AA’s Irish cargo GSSA, IAM, said: “Although the export market is down and capacity is not currently critical, we need to preserve AA’s position as the second largest direct carrier on the North Atlantic. In this respect, frequency is just as important as capacity to the local market.” AA offers the first daily arrival in Chicago with flights departing Dublin at 10.30 daily, and arrive at 12.35, making possible local delivery, and same day connections by air and truck to other parts of the USA.

In addition to AA’s seven direct B767-300 flights per week from Dublin, IAM can offer additional capacity using express overnight road feeders to connect to the airline’s 19 flights per day from London Heathrow.
