Air France took delivery of the first Boeing Co. 777 Freighter at ceremonies Thursday at Paine Field in Everett.
According to the Chicago-based aerospace giant (NYSE: BA), 12 customers have ordered a total of 73 of the new 777 Freighter planes, a model that the company said is the world’s longest-range freighter airplane. The plane can fly up to 4,880 nautical miles with a payload of up to 103 metric tons. Air France currently operates nine freighter airplanes based on Boeing’s 747 model.
“With the 777F, Air France also will experience the lowest maintenance costs and the lowest trip costs of any large freighter, as well as outstanding environmental performance,” said Aldo Basile, vice president, sales, Europe, Russia and Central Asia, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, in a statement.
